People who are familiar with the brand name Solstice can get pretty excited to know that this review is going to be about one of their products, and that’s for a reason. Solstice is all about presenting what will fit different people with different personalities and life styles, and here, we’re definitely talking about inflatable standup paddle boards which have become a big hit in the water sports’ world.
Solstice Bali Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
This review is going to be about the Bali which is 10.8 feet long, 31 inches wide and 4 inches thick; it sounds great, isn’t it? Well, it is. The length here is neither too big nor too small for anyone to ride and maneuver, while the 31 inches is enough for you to lie on your back, to sit or even play yoga. I couldn’t like a basic design more than this.
The Solstice Bali is an all-round inflatable SUP board which will serve you perfectly in various water conditions and it’s versatile enough that beginners can use it for yoga, recreational paddling and touring as well.
This iSUP is made of durable 1000 Denier 3 ply PVC reinforced fabric material to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. Also, with a body that turns extremely stiff once fully inflated, you’re guaranteed to enjoy a very smooth paddling experience, because this board is not only rigid, but also quite stable and sturdy.
Looking at the pictures, you can see that the Bali is featured with a large non-slip traction pad that covers almost the whole back of the board; it’s an amazing feature because those traction pads will boost your balance when you want to change directions or bring some moves. Being mentioned, the Bali is very easy to control and maneuver since it’s light and thick which makes it a great choice for beginners. Add to the fact that it’s featured with 3 fins, one of which is large and removable while the other 2 are smaller and fixed. They add a whole great deal of equilibrium both; to the iSUP and the paddler.
I found that the design as a whole is very functional and practical; the Bali glides smoothly, it’s large and suitable for a variety of activities, and it inflates/deflates easily so that you get to transport it or store it anywhere.
Now, the best thing about inflatable standup paddle boards is that they allow you to do certain things that you can’t do on a hard board, folding them up and storing them in a bag is one of them, but what I’m talking about here is the 4 D-rings set which will enable you to carry extra cargo on board with you and secure things like the paddle and sandals to it. What you need for that is a bungee cord which is sadly not included, however, you can find one easily and use it. A fifth D-ring is on the board’s tail for those of you who like to use a safety leash.
Another item that is not included is the paddle, I know; we all wish for a complete package without anything missing, but looking at the price, I tolerated that since I can order a paddle along with the board. The Good part is that you won’t have to look for a backpack bag because the Bali comes with a cool one where you can put it after you deflate it and roll it up. It’s a mesh backpack that will keep the inflatable SUP board dry and clean wherever it is stored.
Moreover, you’ll find a high pressure hand pump with gauge to make inflating the Bali an easy possible thing anywhere you go; the board can take up to 15 PSI which is enough to make it hard and stiff, and once you’re there, the Bali can hold 225 lbs in the water. Inflatable standup paddle boards are made to spread the good vibes that’s why I always welcome company on board.
To wrap it up, I was pretty pleased with the performance of the Solstice Bali as an all-round inflatable SUP board, and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone including beginners. It’s a strong paddle board with a basic design that will make it one to last, and with the bag, you can take it anywhere with you.
Pros
- The Solstice Bali is one of the best inflatable SUP Board under $500.
- It’s perfect for a wide range of activities including yoga.
- It tracks quite well and glides smoothly.
Cons
- The only downside we can reasonably think of is that this board doesn’t come with a paddle.
